Why are there such evil rock bands such as cannibal corpse and insane clown posse and many more whose lyrics include torture rape killing pregnant women,killing babies ,and cannabilism and lots of worse stuff.I have a couple questions how come these people are so cowardess if u see them in interviews sometimes they could seem like normal people and they sing about mutilating themselves and cutting their faces but none of them really have any scars is it just me or are these people just cry babies looking for attention.Their lyrics make me sick people like this should be locked in a high security cage somewhere and not let out,even if they do what they say or not. your thoughts?
Do you like horror movies or novels? Same thing. You don't have to be a murderer to write a murder mystery. I bet the guy who wrote Seven didn't go around killing fat people. Imagination. Lock them up. Come on, don't listen. It's not like you can't leave the house without having Cannibal Corpse thrown in your face.
You don't understand their style of writing. I don't particularly like cannibal corpse etc . . . in fact their lyrics do make me sick. But they're not writing about themselves or what they would do. Their songs are based on horror movies and films, its sorta like their writing their own horror movies in song.

I love these people who blame everyone else for the choices they themselves make. It seems to be the relative attitude to blame other people.
Look, I don't like it either - I think writing about that is sad, and reflects on them as people. But I don't listen to it. I don't judge them and bother people on Y!A about them. I just ignore them and live my own life.
Chances are, they're just trying to tell a story anyway - like a horror film.
That's the only thing you can do. There are people being murdered and raped for real, not just in the songs - but I can't do anything about it. I just try to move on. That's all you can do.

I'm guessing your not a fan of Cannibal Corpse then. These people seem normal because they most probably are. Many people write songs about all kinds of things but never actually do them. If they did, they most certainly would be locked up.
Take "Cop Killer" by Ice-T for example. Do you seriously expect him to actually go around killing police officers for real?

Don't know about the others but ICP mostly sings about torturing people like wifebeaters and such, like on their Great Milenko album.

Well, I also don't like that, but I ignore it. I mean, it's easy to ignore them since most of the lyrics are growled or shrieked incomprehensibly... When I listen to Black or Death metal, it's for the overall atmosphere, not the lyrics.

That being said Cannibal Corpse does fill Me with the urge to spew, and ICP, nothing I can say about them cause there are some others here that can flame them much better than I.
However I think locked in a cage and not let out may be a witsy bit harsh. Like I always say, if You don't wanna hear it......don't listen. If You don't wanna see it......don't look. Because once You start down that path, pretty soon everything is censored, and that sucks.
And I don't like having My freedom of Choice taken away.

Because most of them are just not original enough so they must follow what everyone else is doing in the world of Metal today: write crappy lyrics about torture and rape to get a quick buck. Not saying all of them DO write about disgusting mortifying lyrics, but on percentage rate, I would say a definite 96% of them do. This goes back to how each and every decade has great songwriters and awful songwriters. It is true. Even he doesn't lyrics like that, in a recent Guitar Player interview, Slash said he is only like this on stage. He is more of a homebody than you think. So for every Metalhead that believes that all of them are like that, most of them aren't.
However, I will not state in particular that YOU are wrong or right, but that this is your opinion, and I respect it highly.

No offence but this is one of the stupidest rants I've ever heard.
The entire point of such lyrics is to provoke exactly this response. Many of these bands are products of the mid-90's forward. Many young people became tired of having their culture Observed, Digested, Repackaged and sold back to them by media conglomerates, record labels and department stores. Therefore, some bands attempted to adopt a sound and cuture that were Indigestible. The idea was that no company could make such lyrics commercial, such a culture mainstream or such bands into pop sensations. The movement failed however. Bands such as Limp Bizkit, Eminem and Marilyn Manson were successful efforts which accomplished this feat. ICP, Cannibal Corpse and a few other like bands are leftover relics from this effort. There album sales have slowed as the culture which created them has begun to die out. Sometimes, art is not so much a reflection of reality as it is a reaction to it.
