I am interested in learning more about Buddhism, what steps can I take to research this religion more. I was raised to be catholic but that always felt empty. For many years I have been atheist. Now I am getting older and believe it is time for a change. JC is not for me. Thanks a bunch.
Start asking questions here rather than wondering around.
Seek out your nearest Buddhist center/temple.
"I was raised to be catholic but that always felt empty."
Not for me it doesn't. Catholicism has always been fulfilling for me.
I was raised a catholic. went to catholic schools for my first 9 years. went through the sacraments including marriage. knew most of the bible stories ect... knew of JC but didn't really know him. I mean we all know Tiger Woods right? but do we know Him personally? not many of us. That's the same with God. I knew of him for 37 years but didn't truly know him. Until I made a committment to find out who this Jesus really was. the bible says that once a person turns toward the Lord the veil is lifted, your eyes are opened to the truth. And it also says if you seek God with all your heart you'll find him.. find a non-denominational church that just believes in and just teaches what the bible says and not man made religion... God will truly bless you. He did for me!!
Learn everything you can on the internet and seek out a local Buddhist temple. And if u do want to embrace something, give it your everything. Also understand that buddhism may place certain restrictions on u with regards to diet and way of worship. You will need to accept all of it. Its a very peaceful and spiritual religion and I wish you all the best in your journey
I feel you man. Buddhism has some very interesting beliefs. I think you'll find some real enlightenment in that path. I think Deepak Chopra has a book out on the Buddha called Buddah: A Story of Enlightenment. That should be interesting. He also wrote one called Jesus: A Story of Enlightenment if you want to read that too. He has some very eastern ideas about Jesus you may find more appealing then the weighed down Dogmatic Catholic approach. Hope this helps.

Buddhism came out of Hinduism
Just start. That's all there is to it. Just begin your meditations and your kindness to others and soon enough it will be natural
Do a search on Buddhism.
Start with the basics:
"Living Buddha, Living Christ" by Thich Nhat Hahn.---A great book for Christians transitioning to Buddhism
"How to Practice the Wat to a Meaningful Life" by the Dalai Lama
"Transforming the Mind" by the Dalai Lama
"A Buddhist Bible" edited by Dwight Goddard.---Should give you all basic ancient texts referenced in the other books.
