that all depends on where abouts in italy you're from
Dialetto as it's called varies so much from region to region
There doesn't seem to be a common slang as such.
Take for example napoli, where the dialect is napolitano, but if you go into the really poor areas of napoli they then speek ghetto napolitano...
watch the film Gomorrah if you want to learn some ghetto napolitano..
that film had italian sub-titles because people outside of napoli wouldn't understand it..
personally I think Italian is such a beautiful language and dialetto is horrible
well as lion of judah said we have different slang ways of saying things and we call them Dialetti..
but some of these dialetti are so different from italian language that they are consider language them self..for example Friulano is a language/dialetto talked in the north-east of Italy..
dialetti which are talked in the south of the country are very very difficult to understand for a foreigner an even for an italian...
the most known dialetti are the one of Venice, "il veneziano" and the one of sardinia, of Rome and of Naples...but every region has a different one which can change from town to town..
the veneziano is really funny..
"hello girl how are you?" in veneziano would be "Ciao tosa, come che la va?"
"how beautiful you are!": " te xe proprio bea, ciò!"
the accent is really important and some dialetti differs from others only cause of that.
dialetto is a really important part of our culture. before being one nation Italy had been divided in a lots of states and then shared by French, Germans and also Arabs and Spanish. so languages took a lot of influences.
Dialetti were born before italian language which is grown up from the dialect of Tuscany.
