Ok i had my son 7 months ago and for the past week my stomach has been moving out slightly it looks and feels as if a baby is in there kicking. Then tonight i sat up in bed and almost doubled over in pain , this pain felt exactly like a contraction.
Im on the pill but irregular , i have a period every about every 6 weeks.
I have taken a pregnancy test a few days ago which was negative , anyone who recently had a baby experienced anything like this its like im having a phantom pregnancy???
Thanks in advance.
i've never had pain, but i've had the "phantom" kicks. i still have them and i'm about eight weeks pregnant. i read somewhere that it's a mind trick. if i put my hand on my tummy, it stops; i guess because i'm actually thinking about it. if it's too painful, talk to your doctor. congrats on the new baby and good luck.
thats weird...ive felt that way too...i had my baby 2 months ago..and it still feels like shes in there kicking around..but i still dont know whats wrong with me...since then ive had surgery for my gall bladder so obviously theres nothing left in there..so i have noo clue...but relieved to know im not the only one..=/
That sounds freaky I would be scared about it. If I was feeling that I would be thinking that my body is trying to get used to the fact that I don't have a baby in there any more. I would go see a doctor though because maybe they could tell me what is wrong.
Phantom pregnancy also has a few other names as well, false pregnancy, hysterical pregnancy, and imaginary pregnancy among others. Phantom pregnancy is a condition that causes a lot of the signs and symptoms of pregnancy without actually being pregnant. Although the cause of this condition is unknown I have heard a few different reasons why it could possibly happen. One is because a woman might want to get pregnant so bad and thinks about it so much that eventually your mind can play tricks on you. The same goes for women who are really worried about becoming pregnant so bad that they think about it all the time. It's amazing what your mind can do. In some cases it might happen like this, a woman might skip her period because she is stressed possibly from really wanting to become pregnant or not wanting to, this can also cause a woman's stomach to become distended and all of a sudden the brain starts to interpret all of these signs as a baby on the way! At this point the woman's brain will produce certain hormones that will prepare the body for pregnancy. Some women will even gain weight or lactate as well as other things I will get into later. I have actually heard of women who have experienced a false pregnancy up until the point of going into labor and then delivering nothing! I was astonished at these findings, but even more so when I read that although phantom pregnancy doesn't happen to often, (only about 6 maximum out of around twenty two thousand pregnancies) it can happen to children and even MEN!! However men usually only experience it when one of their loved ones are pregnant. I have heard of doctors actually being fooled by it and I have also heard of a woman actually having an amniotic sac but nothing was ever in it.
I haven't experienced it (sorry), but I hope the info helps :)
