Legal Issues of Concierge Medicine / Concierge Physician / Retainer Medicine? | | Published by: rose 2010-03-16 |
What are the legal issues surrounding Concierge Medicine / Concierge
Physician / Retainer Medicine? I found some good documents at
http://www.cp2s.com in their Information Center
(http://www.cp2s.com/infocenter.asp) but it doesn't give the low level
legal issues that need to be addressed.
While the last comment was right in theroy, there is plenty to think
about & know from a legal stand point. Each state has certain things
you should know about the law, insurance regulations, etc.
There was a case in West Virginia not to long ago that forced the Dr.
to close his doors on his concierge practice.
I will be happy to talk to you about the business model if you will
post your e-mail addreess.
As far as I know, there is no legal issues. These concierge medicine
practices or "boutique clinics" are popping up slowly, mainly due to
growing discontent with insurance restrictions and declining payments.
I've heard that in Palm Springs, patients get doctors' home phone and
cell phone numbers, and even pager numbers for 24/7/365 access if they
pay up the right $$$. They also get preferential appointment times
and clinic access. Hey, if you can afford it, why not?
Allergies.. no relief?!?
