On the Playstation 3 web site, I noticed that it said that the HDMI cable was only compatible with the PLAYSTATION®3 80GB system (CECHE01) and not the one with "CHK" at the end, which is the one in production. I just want to make sure that if I buy the current 80gb PS3, it will allow HDMI cables. Also, I am not sure if my T.V. can support 1080p. I heard that if your T.V. doesn't support 1080i, it will lower to 720i. My T.V. is a 55" Sony HDTV from 2004. Thanks.
Every PS3 supports HDMI and has the HDMI port. EVen the 80gb PS3 that are here now and the ones that were before. The only reason why sony cant really say every PS3 had HDMI is because older models of the 20GB PS3( which was discontiued almost a year did)didnt have them and even so, like 2 mouths later, they included it.Dont worry, if your TV supports a resolution, ur PS3 will deliver
All PS3s have HDMI output 1.3a. DO NOT believe otherwise because that is a fact. Check Wikipedia if you arent sure.
If your TV cant support it the PS3 should set itself to a compatible resolution. But it sounds like you have a high end TV so you probably wont have to worry.
Good luck
