Instead of hanging stockings What do children in Europe do
They still hang stockings
Party like a rockstar with their little dradles=]
wiki is wrong.
while the tradition might be from Europe it is definitely no loner practiced. I can speak for the easier Europeans, Scandinavians and Mediterraneans
we do not hang stockings.
We do however (in Easter Europe) put our shoes or slippers out at night on on the 5 of December at night so it;s there when kids wake up on the Dec. 6
sometimes we find gifts under the pillows as well. I is called St. Nicholas day.
But on Christmas, we just get gifts under a Christmas tree
if you want more info on St. Nicholas

Don't some put out shoes?
From the source of wikipedia (not always reliable i know) Christmas stocking is actually a european tradition so you'd find that Europeans do the same thing and hang stockings :)

lots of ppl dont have fireplaces where ive been, and even if they did, i dont think they do.
im from romania and we put our shoes or boots out and then the next morning they have presents in them. but we dont do that on christmas eve, we do it December 5, (so we get them December 6th) and its called St. Nick Day but on Christmas its just presents under the tree like in America.
