I'd like to know which websites or online sources give the fastest
baseball news as far as injuries, promotions, demotions, etc. I'm in
a fantasy baseball league and I've noticed certain sites report
information faster (sometimes a few hours) than others. I'd prefer
free sources, but wouldn't rule out fee-based. Thanks.

The fastest news service or web service is the one that is also
hosting Google Answers ...
Google News (http://news.google.com) could provide news according to a
search word (for example, "baseball", or various combinations and
names for players, teams and conditions). It is sorted automatically
by relevance, but you could sort it (at the upper right side) by date,
and get news as fresh as from 2 minutes ago (see
http://news.google.com/news?q=baseball&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&edition=usa&scoring=d).
Naturally, you could also read or browse general sports news, by
clicking on the relevant section in the left hand bar.
This might be a good time as ever to mention that I am not a Google
employee, and would get nothing in return. This is only the best site
I have found.
However, there are several other sites that you might find helpful:
Sports Voice offer, for a
fee, updates and statistics for especially designed for people who
like fantasy baseball, like you.
Make It Simple
claim they update their sports news every 15 minutes.
News Press National sports news
is updated every 30
minutes.

so it seems, what you're looking for, with a special section on
baseball and special articles on fantasy baseball:

are updated "everyday all day long", according to their claim.
But the best service for you is, sadly, a fee based service. Hotowire
is updated every few minutes with the most
relevant information. They offer Free One-Week Trial - "If you are a

You generically suggest Google News, and although it may be a great
source for up-to-the-minute news, I can't just do a search for
"baseball" or any combination of terms and sort through every article
that has to do with baseball. I agree, Google News is great, but I'm
not looking for general sports news. I need news such as Joe Smith
lost his starting position to John Doe, or Joe Smith got traded to the
Yankees, or an MRI revealed a tear in Joe Smith's shoulder, so John
Doe will be his replacement for the next 2 months.
Sports Voice is a service for the league members of Precision Sports
Statistics Inc's. I am not in their league.
The other two are generic news as well.
You might have to be or have been in a fantasy league yourself to
fully understand what type of information I'm looking for.
