Wow, that sounds like real harsh persecution, having to accompany your parents to their place of worship when you are young.
In reality a young person who is not yet ready to make his own mature decisions, participates with his or her family in their activities, cultural or religious or otherwise. When they are old enough to go out on their own, then they can do what they like. But all of a sudden that is presented like tyranny, persecution, or something along those lines.
Were any vegetable haters forced to eat broccoli like their parents when they were young?
No. I chose to go when I was a teenager, but later became an atheist.
My friend is. She hates it. She talks about burning down her church(jokingly of course)
Not I.
Where?
Which parent?
Probably.
Actually, when I was a Christian, I forced my dad to take me to church.
Oh, I feel so bad about it now. It'd waste 2 hours of the only day we saw each other during the week.
Yes. They explained to me how babby is formed.
Yes, I was, but it never took hold.
What?
Yep, for more than ten years. TEN long years of daydreaming while listening to bleating sheep.
Yes. As a matter of fact, I was forced to attend a Lutheran School as well. So going to Lutheran "chapel" was part of my school week in addition to attending Pentecostal church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.
Yes i am an atheist or agnostic i cant really decide. But i am still only 16 turning 17 near the end of the year and my parents still make me go to church. I think that is the reason y i became the way i am. i openly tell my parents i hate church and tell them i dont wana go but every sunday i have to get up and go. I wish they saw i was old enough to make my own decision maby one day i will become a christan again but untill that day comes i want no part of it.
Where?
Yep.
my dad was by his parents. when he moved out he left the church.
YES I WAS FORCED, AND IF I DIDN'T CLAP OR SING I'D GET PUNISHED!! THATS REALLY HOLY!! I'D ASK QUESTION I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND AND I'D GET INTO MORE TROUBLE BECAUSE I WAS QUESTIONING GOD!! SPANKED CAUSE I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND. ONE SERVICE THIS PASTOR WAS LAYING HIS HANDS ON MY FOEHEAD AND PRAYING AND HE WAS TRYING TO FORCE ME DOWN LIKE TO BE SLAIN IN THE SPIRIT, BUT I WOULDN'T GO DOWN!!!
Yes, until I moved out. In my late teens, it was more guilt trips and screaming matches that I didn't care to fight at the time.
yeah.. but my parents not really religious...
I wasn't forced.
I went voluntarily with my religious relatives...I was curious.
Yes, I went when I was young, didn't like it.
Then I grew up.
I found God on my own.
I still am forced to go to church by my parents...
the REAL question here is how many CHURCHES were forced by ATHEISTS to go to PARENTS when they were young????
Why would being an atheist make a Congressional or Presidential Candidate Unelectable?
How many Atheist here are Republicans or are McCain supporters? |
