Which of these small business insurers offer insurance for small
businesses against data loss? i.e. can i purchase insurance against
the risk of me losing all my business data?
It would also be very very useful to get general information on the US
insurance industry - i.e. some overview of who the major players are -
what sort of insurance products they sell - adn to whom.
Is there some sort of over-arching insurance regulator that might have
lists and market shares for the different insurance companies etc?

You seemed to be asking two very different questions -- one about
small business insurance, especially for data loss, and a second
question about an overview of the insurance industry in general, with
an emphasis on major players.
If you really want both of these answer, may I suggest that you post
them as two separate questions. This works to your advantage, and
makes it more manageable for the researchers.
